High Pressure

Piezocryst develops and produces high pressure transducers that enable exact and reliable measurements even at the highest pressures. All of theses ballistic sensors have an M10 thread and enable mounting within existing boreholes. This allows for measurements of different maximum pressures up to 8000 bar, ideally within one existing barrel and mounting position, helping to save time, money and to facilitate the interpretation of results.

For many applications at lower pressures the charge output of the so far used equipment was unsatisfactory. The signal to noise ratio of measurements dropped and partly led to poor reproducibility and data which had to be carefully interpreted. The new ballistic sensors are equipped with GaPO4 crystals that show the well known reliable behavior of quartz but at a higher charge output. For the 2000 bar sensor this gives an improvement of about 200% to the state of the art, finally leading to a significant improvement in data quality. The 6000 and 8000 bar sensors profit from that by a significantly improved signal to noise ratio.
